Fifth graders at Little Britain are moving up to middle school!

Little Britain Elementary School fifth graders made their way down the aisles and onto the stage at Washingtonville High School’s auditorium for their moving up ceremony on Monday morning. Family, friends, faculty, staff and administrators took their seats to witness this milestone in the lives of these young wizards.

The ceremony started with an introduction from Principal Dr. Christopher Barrie before the Washingtonville JROTC Color Guard did the presentation of colors and the Pledge of Allegiance.

“This year was filled with learning, laughter, teamwork and growth. From field trips to special events to classroom victories, we've accomplished so much,” said Dr. Barrie. “And the best part? We did it together. But none of this would have been possible without the support of our amazing people in our lives.”

Welcoming remarks continued as students Madison Graziano and Isla Romanowski went up to the podium to address the crowd and talk about their experiences during their time at Little Britain.

“On this day, we celebrate all that we've accomplished from kindergarten to fifth grade. We’ve grown so much, learned so many new things and have built a strong foundation for the rest of our education,” the two said. “We've realized that we are each special in our own way, and we thank our teachers for helping us celebrate all that makes us unique.”

Afterwards, the masters of ceremonies took the stage, which included students Cali Bullard, Alara Seiferheld, Abigail Thurston and Cooper Whipple, who continued to speak about their time at the school and the lessons they learned along the way.

The masters of ceremonies then discussed the clubs in which students participated and other accomplishments the Class of 2025 achieved during their time at the school. Then, music teacher Leonard Klopchin and Assistant Principal Marissa Cavellero presented various awards such as the Triple “C” Awards, Citizenship Awards and the Josephine Giacco Award.

Students Adrian Dominguez-Rodriguez and Ayden Woods then went up to the podium to announce the fifth grade class gift to the school — a bench donated by the PTO, before the students received their certificates. The ceremony ended with closing remarks by Dr. Barrie as families met their loved ones outside of the auditorium to congratulate them on their graduation.
