Little Britain hosts family book fair event

Students at Little Britain searched for their next best read with their loved ones Wednesday evening during a special book fair event for families. Events such as this create opportunities for parents to get a glimpse into their child’s education and interests.

The event offered a variety of genres for students to choose from including fiction, nonfiction, graphic novel, fantasy, historical fiction and more. The annual Scholastic Book Fair allows students the chance to explore different reading options while growing a love for literature.

“I like reading, and I like reading the same book (series), so that just makes me want to read,” said William Walters, a third grader at Little Britain who enjoys reading the “I Survivor” and “Dog Man” series.

Reading is fundamental and is an essential part of learning. Daily reading not only builds language and literacy skills, but also strengthens brain development and social-emotional skills.

Initiatives such as the book fair align with the District priority areas of academic excellence and community connection.

“She has been a voracious reader, so we were happy to be able to come to family night and be able to look through and see the options,” said Peter Lambro, a father to a fourth grader at Little Britain. “I appreciate that there is family night, I appreciate being able to see all the different options.”
